Lizzie is the oldest surviving Wellinton-built racing yacht
Launched in February 1909, Lizzie is the oldest surviving Wellington-built racing yacht. She was purchased as salvage by the Wellington Classic Yacht Trust in 2010, and relaunched in 2012 after significant work.
Lizzie is maintained in good condition, and can be seen during special events on the harbour, and Friday evening social racing during the Summer daylight saving period.
She takes out guests, some of whom come once, some keep coming back. If you wish to come for a sail, please contact the Trust. Though you don’t have to be an expert, some sailing experience is required, as you will be expected to lay a hand on a line or two!
